The Fire Within
Rediscover the superhuman strength within you to overcome obstacles and achieve what truly matters.
What stands in the way of your priority goal attainment—habits, people, pressures? Do you think about your goals and then find yourself emerging from the trance of daily routine too tired, or realizing it is too late for anything else? Do you let others talk you out of what matters most to you? Are you so wrapped up in meeting your basic needs that there is nothing left over?
If your home caught fire right now, you would find superhuman strength to save what matters most. That same strength exists inside you always, and you do not need a crisis to turn it on. So look inside and discover the power that has been waiting there all along.
The Fire Within
I confess I have built walls from excuses, brick by brick.
Each morning’s surrender to the gravity of small things.
Coffee growing cold
While I scroll through other people’s victories.
My dreams dissolving like sugar
In the bitter cup of routine.
I have let voices louder than my own
Drown out the whisper of what matters.
Their doubts becoming my gospel,
Their fears my daily bread.
I have fed myself on scraps
Of leftover time, leftover energy,
While my soul starved for purpose.
But tonight I remember the fire—
Not the one that would consume my home,
But the one that burns beneath my ribs.
The ember I thought had died
Under the ash of compromise.
It glows still, patient as a star,
Waiting for me to breathe it back to life.
I confess I have forgotten
That I am made of the same stuff as lightning,
As the force that splits mountains,
As the tide that reshapes shorelines
With nothing but persistence
And the pull of something greater.
The superhuman strength was never sleeping—I was.
But now I feel it stirring,
Golden and fierce as sunrise,
Ready to burn through the fog
Of what I thought was impossible,
Ready to illuminate the path
I was always meant to walk.
