Serena Henry is a multi-niche entrepreneur, healthcare leader, and founder of Healing Pretty Inc. and The Tax Experience Inc., two purpose-driven organizations focused on care, education, and empowerment. Based in the Charleston, South Carolina metropolitan area, she has built her career around service, combining healthcare expertise with a passion for community impact. As CEO of Healing Pretty Inc., she leads an in-home healthcare practice dedicated to supporting elderly individuals, veterans, children with special needs, and patients recovering from surgery or managing chronic conditions, with a strong emphasis on dignity, safety, and personalized care.

With 26 years of experience in healthcare and six years in administrative leadership, Serena brings extensive hands-on clinical knowledge and operational expertise to her work. Her services span activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility assistance, dementia and cognitive support, wound care, in-home dialysis, and specialized care for individuals with complex medical needs. Her professional philosophy centers on compassionate, patient-first care, shaped in part by her lived experience as a young mother and her own health journey, including a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré Syndrome at age 19, which required her to relearn how to walk and deepened her commitment to helping others navigate medical challenges.

Alongside her healthcare leadership, Serena is completing her Bachelor of Science in Health/Healthcare Administration and Management at Southern New Hampshire University. She holds certifications in CPR, AED, first aid, and dementia care, and is a member of the Professional Organization of Women of Excellence Recognized (POWER). Her long-term vision includes expanding access to recovery care through a proposed healing house in Charleston, designed to support patients transitioning from hospital to home. Driven by resilience, leadership, and legacy-building, Serena continues to focus on creating meaningful, life-changing impact for the communities she serves.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I enjoy practicing medicine because of the people I have the privilege to care for, and it is what motivates me to get up and go to work each day with purpose and dedication. For me, this is not just a job or a paycheck but a true passion and calling. In home health, there is a great need for committed providers, yet not enough individuals who are driven by a genuine desire to serve in this capacity. Although the compensation in this field does not always reflect the level of effort involved, my fulfillment comes from the meaningful relationships I build with patients and the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives. Many of my patients do not have family nearby or regular support, so I strive to provide not only medical care but also companionship, comfort, and a caring presence they can look forward to.
