Patricia Fleetwood, LVN
Patricia Fleetwood is a dedicated nursing professional with 34 years of experience in healthcare, driven by a calling that began in childhood when she cared for her chronically ill mother. As she reflects, “Nobody ever asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Nursing chose me.” This lifelong sense of purpose has guided her through a diverse and meaningful career in nursing, spanning med-surg, oncology, rehabilitation, geriatrics, mental health, special needs pediatrics, and correctional healthcare. She is currently working in medical records and central supply at a geriatric facility while continuing to expand her impact in the field of behavioral and mental health.
Patricia recently earned her Master of Science in Counseling and Human Services with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Post University, building upon her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. Her clinical journey includes extensive experience supporting patients across the lifespan, from assisting in labor and delivery and providing hospice care at end of life, to caring for medically fragile children with complex needs. She has administered specialized treatments, coordinated care with physicians, and played a critical role in educating families to support long-term patient success and stability at home.
A significant chapter of Patricia’s career includes serving as a Hepatitis C coordinator in the Texas correctional system, where she led a pilot clinical trial program—only the second of its kind in the state—for approximately a year and a half. This experience deeply influenced her decision to pursue advanced studies in counseling, as she witnessed firsthand how untreated trauma and emotional pain often shape behavior. Looking ahead, Patricia is focused on becoming a certified autism coach for neurodivergent children, inspired in part by her own experience as a parent, as well as working with individuals affected by post-incarceration syndrome (PICS), helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society with dignity and support.
