LaShell Thompson, RN

LaShell Thompson, RN, is a dedicated cardiac nurse at HCA Hospital in Lake City, Florida. In her first year as a registered nurse, she brings six years of experience in the medical field as a PCT tech and phlebotomist, providing a strong foundation for her nursing practice. LaShell is known for her compassionate patient care and her ability to combine knowledge with empathy, earning consistent praise from patients and colleagues alike.

She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Galen College of Nursing, graduating on the Dean’s List, and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the same institution with a 4.0 GPA, with an expected graduation in 2028. Committed to lifelong learning, LaShell actively pursues specialty certifications, including stroke certification for registered nurses, seizure and epilepsy certification, and recently earned her micro-sepsis credential from the American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN).

LaShell is an active member of nine professional nursing associations, including the American Nursing Association, the American Heart Association, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association, and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Her participation reflects her dedication to staying current in nursing practice, expanding her expertise, and contributing to the broader nursing community.

Outside of work, LaShell finds fulfillment in inspiring both patients and colleagues, drawing motivation from her faith and her children. Her ultimate career goal is to become a cardiac nurse practitioner, continuing her focus on cardiovascular care while mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. She also dedicates her time to volunteer work with organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Girl Scouts, demonstrating a strong commitment to service beyond the hospital.
