I believe healthcare is about more than medications, diagnoses, and clinical tasks. It is about people.

Throughout my healthcare career, I have had the opportunity to care for older adults, individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and patients with complex physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional needs. Those experiences have taught me that some of the most important aspects of care cannot be measured on a chart.

Patience matters. Listening matters. Consistency matters. And sometimes the smallest act of compassion can completely change how a patient experiences their day.

My approach to healthcare is rooted in safety, dignity, communication, advocacy, and treating every person as an individual rather than a diagnosis. I believe patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and protected—and families deserve to know that their loved one is being treated with genuine care.

My daughters have also profoundly shaped the way I see resilience, advocacy, and the importance of making sure every person has a voice. Their strength continues to inspire me personally and professionally.

Outside of direct patient care, I am a published author and advocate who uses writing to explore disability, healthcare, resilience, and experiences that are often overlooked or misunderstood.

My goal is simple: to continue learning, continue serving, and continue using my experience and voice to make healthcare more compassionate, accessible, and human.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about working in healthcare is knowing that the care I provide can make a meaningful difference in someone's safety, comfort, dignity, and quality of life. I value the trust patients and families place in their care team, and I strive to provide the same level of compassion, respect, and attention that I would want for someone I love.
