Walter M. Mazzella, DDS

Dr. Mazzella, a native of Washington, D.C., built a strong foundation in dentistry through rigorous academic and clinical training. He earned his dental degree from University of Maryland School of Dentistry and completed a residency program at the University of Florida. Early in his career, he spent six years practicing cosmetic dentistry in Washington, D.C. Before founding his own practice in Howard County in 2001. Coming from a family with a long tradition in dentistry—his father served as chairman of Periodontics at Georgetown University Dental School—Dr. Mazzella has embraced both heritage and innovation in his work.

In his practice located in Woodstock, Maryland, Dr. Mazzella offers comprehensive general and cosmetic dental services, combining high‑level clinical expertise with patient‑centered care. His credentials include a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), obtained after extensive continuing education and examination, signifying proficiency across all disciplines of dentistry. He has further pursued advanced training in areas such as TMJ disorders, severe tooth wear, bite problems, splint therapy, dental implants and bone grafting, and has served in leadership roles such as president of the Howard County Dental Association.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Mazzella is deeply committed to community service and global outreach. He has volunteered with the Mission of Mercy dental clinics in Maryland, provided donated dental services locally, and took part in a missionary trip to the Dominican Republic offering implant and bone‑graft surgeries. He is also a long‑standing member of the Rotary Club of Columbia‑Patuxent, holding board positions and focusing on charitable and international projects. Through both his professional and philanthropic work, Dr. Mazzella continues to serve his local community and beyond with compassion, excellence and vision.
