Thomas J. Gilbert, III, DO, FACHM serves as the Chief Medical Officer of MVS Wound Care & Hyperbarics. Board certified in Hyperbaric Medicine and Emergency Medicine, Dr. Gilbert brings extensive clinical and leadership experience in the delivery of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and advanced wound care.
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Gilbert provides strategic and clinical oversight across the organization while continuing to actively treat patients, ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently delivered. His hands-on approach allows him to directly apply best practices and innovations in wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
Prior to joining MVS Wound Care & Hyperbarics, Dr. Gilbert played a key role in the development and launch of a hyperbaric medicine program at Meritus Health in Hagerstown, Maryland, demonstrating his expertise in building and scaling specialized clinical services.
Dr. Gilbert completed both his internship and Emergency Medicine residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego in California. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association. He is also an active member of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
Taking care of patients is what I enjoy most about practicing medicine. Caring for patients gives me a lot of enjoyment, and I especially love seeing patients get well. That's really what drives me in my work every day.
