What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I always knew I wanted to pursue a career where I could take care of patients in the hospital. I remember as a child, I found being in the hospital to be so distressing and an unpleasant experience, but one that made me want to be in that environment and to help other people going through the same thing, to make their experience a little easier. I always knew I wanted to pursue something in the hospital, and once I learned that hospitalist medicine was a possibility, I pursued it. My passion was hospitalist medicine and internal medicine, and I had some really great mentorship at Northwestern and Cedars-Sinai in graduate medical education and helping to shape residencies, which led me to be interested in joining the leadership of residency programs.
