Sheldown Boruchow, DDS

Dr. Sheldon Boruchow, DDS, has been practicing dentistry for more than 30 years, building a career defined by dedication, innovation, and lasting patient relationships. After earning his dental degree from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, he began his professional journey in public health and working for other practices. While those early experiences were invaluable, Dr. Boruchow ultimately envisioned creating his own small, family-centered dental office. He first opened his practice part-time in a home office located in a beautiful neighborhood, later relocating to a nearby space as both his family and practice grew. What began as a modest endeavor steadily evolved into a trusted, community-based family practice.

Although trained comprehensively in general dentistry, Dr. Boruchow developed a particular passion for orthodontics. Recognizing that traditional dental school training only introduces the basics of orthodontic care, he pursued advanced studies at the Institute of Graduate Dentists, where he completed several years of additional training. He describes this focused expertise as a “semi-specialty” in orthodontics and especially enjoys working with Invisalign and monitoring children as they grow and develop orthodontically. A member of the American Orthodontic Society, he remains committed to continuing education and staying current with evolving dental technologies. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Boruchow has served as a local school dentist for approximately 20 years, conducting dental exams and promoting preventive care for generations of students.

What Dr. Boruchow values most today is the depth of the relationships he has built over three decades. He has cared for many of his patients for 30 years, often treating multiple generations within the same family. This continuity has transformed his office into a true family practice in every sense of the word. He finds dentistry even more fascinating now than when he first began, energized by the rapid pace of technological advancement and the need to continually adapt and learn. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Boruchow is an avid ballroom dancer and has even been featured in a local newspaper for his passion and talent. His career reflects not only clinical excellence, but also a genuine love for people, lifelong learning, and community connection.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most is that I've built these long-term relationships with my patients over 30 years - I really know them now, and it's become like a family practice. I get along with people and I enjoy working with them, which I think is really important in this field. I also find dentistry even more interesting now than when I first started. Things are evolving so much with technology, and it's almost scary how much has changed, but you have to stay on top of it. I particularly love doing orthodontics and Invisalign - I really enjoy following young kids and helping them develop better orthodontically. There's a lot of benefit in that, and it gives me great satisfaction.
