Sheila Shiyukah, FNP, MSN, MBA, MHSM, RN
Sheila is a dedicated registered nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) candidate with a rich and diverse clinical and leadership background. With a foundation in military nursing, Sheila began her career as a combat medic and served in Iraq, where she also contributed to educating local nurses. Her professional journey spans neuro nursing, home health leadership, payer-based case management, and international clinical exposure, including participation in a comparative health systems study in Switzerland.
Sheila most recently served as Director of Nursing at a home health agency, where she championed patient advocacy, ensuring continuity of care post-hospitalization and promoting patient education on medications and follow-up care. She has also worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield as a claims auditor and case manager, guiding patients through their care plans and enhancing understanding of their treatment.
Her professional philosophy centers on wellness, preventive care, and longevity, strengthened by her functional medicine training. Sheila is committed to empowering patients through education and advocacy, ensuring they leave healthcare encounters with clarity, confidence, and actionable steps for their well-being.
Sheila holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington (FNP program, board pending), and dual master’s degrees in Health System Management and Business Administration from Texas Women’s University. She has been recognized for her military service and academic achievements and was selected for inclusion in America’s Best in Medicine. Sheila is an active member of professional nurse practitioner organizations and plans to deepen her involvement following completion of her FNP board certification.
