Ruben Roncallo, MD
Ruben Roncallo, MD, is a dedicated pediatrician and Founder of Border Pediatrics (established 2002), whose commitment to child health was shaped early in life in his native Colombia. While still in high school, he witnessed the hardships faced by impoverished families and recognized the profound impact that access to quality healthcare could have on children’s lives. This experience inspired his decision to pursue medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad Metropolitana in Barranquilla, Colombia, where he completed his medical education before beginning his early clinical practice in his home country and later relocating to the United States in 1993.
After moving to the U.S., Dr. Roncallo advanced his pediatric training and practice, including serving at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center from 1994 to 2002, where he strengthened his expertise in pediatric care and clinical service. Following this, he established Border Pediatrics in El Paso, Texas, building a long-standing practice dedicated to serving children and families in the border community for nearly two decades. In 2020, he transitioned from private practice to public healthcare leadership, joining University Medical Center of El Paso as Director of the Pediatric Clinic. He also serves as Medical Director of the Juvenile Detention Center, overseeing healthcare services for youth within the justice system. Throughout his career, Dr. Roncallo has maintained a particular dedication to the care and support of children with autism in the El Paso community.
Dr. Roncallo is board certified in pediatrics and maintains active involvement in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.
