Pamila Peters
Pamila Peters is a Perioperative Technician in Anesthesia at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where she has worked since 2023. She began practicing as a perioperative technician approximately eight months ago, specializing in anesthesia support within the operating room. In this role, Pamila contributes to the surgical team by ensuring procedures run smoothly and safely while helping provide the highest level of care to pediatric patients.
Before transitioning into surgical technology, Pamila spent about two and a half years as a Mental Health Specialist at the hospital’s Behavioral Health Pavilion, working closely with children in the Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit. There, she supported young patients experiencing mental health crises by providing emotional support, engaging them in activities, and helping create a sense of connection during challenging moments. Her ability to combine empathy with clinical awareness helped foster a supportive environment for children in vulnerable situations.
In addition to her hospital work, Pamila has served as an independent provider for the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities since 2008, a role she continues part-time to maintain long-standing relationships with the families she has supported for more than a decade. She holds certifications in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), AED, CPR, and first aid for all ages. Guided by values instilled by her father, a Marine, Pamila remains deeply committed to children’s mental health awareness and advocacy while continuing to expand her clinical skills in pediatric healthcare.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
When I encounter a client, patient, family member, or team member going through their toughest moments, I strive to connect with them deeply to understand what they need. I gently guide them towards coping skills, sharing that these are strategies I personally use myself. I do my best to connect them with providers, assuring them that if they give their all, these resources and support systems can help them see that better days are possible. Every day, I approach my work with the heartfelt hope that, for at least one person, I can make their day a little brighter. Making a positive, lasting difference in the lives of those I care for or work with is what brings me the greatest fulfillment.
