Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Hope Development Practice
Duvall, WA 98019

Mitali Jariwala is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle, which she completed in December of last year. She has been working in the mental health field for approximately two years, including her internship training, and currently provides therapy through a telehealth practice from her home. She is professionally affiliated with Hope Development, a behavioral health agency in Puyallup, Washington, which manages her billing and administrative support. In addition, she is the founder of her own incorporated practice, Room Counseling, which is currently in development as she builds out her professional website.
Her clinical approach is grounded in somatic therapy and informed by polyvagal theory, with a strong emphasis on nervous system regulation and co-regulation as foundational aspects of healing. She focuses on helping clients understand how safety, connection, and physiological regulation influence emotional well-being, and she integrates this understanding into practical therapeutic work. Empowerment, self-awareness, and embodiment are central to her style, and she carefully uses self-disclosure when appropriate to normalize client experiences and reinforce the belief that healing is possible and achievable.
Mitali works with clients ages 10 and older, extending through adults in their late 40s, supporting a wide range of developmental and life-stage needs. Her areas of specialty include complex PTSD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and neurodivergence, with a particular focus on ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. Prior to entering the clinical field, she built extensive experience in organizational development and program management within large corporate environments, including roles at Amazon and Columbia Bank, which continue to inform her structured yet human-centered approach to care.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What really drew me towards this work was my own experience of working through trauma and how counseling changed my world when I moved here from Asia 13 years ago. I didn't grow up with access to counseling over there, but when I started counseling here, it just changed everything in terms of how my nervous system was able to feel safe for the first time in a very long time. I was able to start to respond to things, it was easier for me to shift my mindset, and it opened up this whole new world where I could be who I wanted to be and just be my authentic self. That's what really drew me towards this work - being able to work with clients one-on-one and just be there with them and help them heal. I feel like I'm able to use self-disclosure carefully with clients where they can see it's normalized, and they feel like, oh, if someone else could do it, so can I, which gives them that sense of motivation.
