Madhish Patel, DO
Dr. Madhish Patel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction, hip preservation, and advanced joint replacement surgery. Based in Fort Myers, Florida, he practices with Gardner Orthopedics, where he is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals requiring primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Patel is highly skilled in robotic-assisted and computer-navigated joint replacement procedures and is certified in both Mako and ROSA robotic surgical systems. His commitment to innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration helps optimize outcomes and improve quality of life for his patients.
Dr. Patel completed an Adult Reconstruction and Hip Preservation Fellowship at Desert Orthopaedic Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he received advanced training in complex hip and knee reconstruction. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University after completing a Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences. Prior to medical school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Benedictine University. He then completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency through Ascension Genesys Hospital and Michigan State University’s Statewide Campus System, where he developed extensive expertise in orthopedic surgery and patient care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Patel is deeply involved in orthopedic education and professional leadership. He currently serves as Fellowship Faculty and Co-Director for the Ortho Florida Adult Reconstruction Fellowship and is an active member of the AOAO Resident and Fellow Committee. His dedication to teaching has also included serving as a faculty instructor for advanced hip and knee educational programs, including the Alumni Faculty IEP Hip and Knee Fellows Course held in Tampa, Florida. Through mentorship and education, he remains committed to advancing the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Patel has contributed to the advancement of orthopedic medicine through research, publications, and national presentations. His scholarly work includes publications in the Journal of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (JPOSNA) and StatPearls, as well as research focused on joint arthroplasty outcomes, catastrophic trunnion failure in total hip replacement, reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, and factors influencing postoperative recovery and discharge planning. He has presented his findings at prestigious meetings, including the Nevada Orthopaedic Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Patel enjoys an active lifestyle that reflects his passion for teamwork, perseverance, and adventure. A former member of Uganda’s Under-15, Under-19, and National Cricket Teams, he developed a lifelong appreciation for discipline and leadership through athletics. In his free time, he enjoys biking, hiking, and shark cage diving. Dr. Patel maintains active membership in numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, and the American Osteopathic Association.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I love most about what I do is the ability to give patients back their quality of life, quickly. That's pretty amazing and rewarding to me. Being able to make that kind of immediate, meaningful impact on someone's life is what makes this work so fulfilling.
