Lyrisa Sanchez, FNP-BC

Lyrisa Sanchez is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience serving rural communities in Eastern and Northern New Mexico. She began her healthcare journey at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, NM, earning her CNA, LPN, and RN credentials. After practicing as a Registered Nurse since 2009, she pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Aspen University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, achieving board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the ANCC in 2024. Throughout her nursing career, Lyrisa gained broad clinical experience in emergency rooms at rural hospitals, med-surg floors, home health, skilled nursing facilities, and pain management, including assisting with procedures like back injections. She also worked as a laboratory technician and provided school-based health services, introducing telehealth programs to schools in her community.

For her first two years as a nurse practitioner, Lyrisa practiced in family medicine while taking ER hospital call, effectively functioning as a hospitalist and bridging her transition from nursing to nurse practitioner within the hospital setting. She has served in leadership roles, including Director of Nursing overseeing multiple clinics, and has been inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success as well as Sigma Theta Tau honor society. Her career combines clinical excellence, administrative leadership, and a strong commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare in rural areas.

Currently at Meadow City Family Clinic in Las Vegas, NM, Lyrisa focuses on primary care, family medicine, hormone replacement therapy through EVEXIPEL, weight management, and holistic approaches to patient care. Bilingual in Spanish, she is able to serve her diverse patient population effectively. Lyrisa is motivated by seeing positive patient outcomes and hearing how her care makes a real difference in people’s lives—patient engagement and these measurable results continue to drive her dedication to learning and providing the best care possible.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the patient engagement and seeing positive outcomes. When patients come back and tell me that what I'm doing is working for them, and that the way I talk to them works for them, that's what keeps me going. Hearing that patients are getting better and seeing those positive outcomes drives me to do better and to learn more. The patient relationship is really what keeps me rockin' and rollin' in this field. I have patients who travel hours just to come see me, and that kind of loyalty and trust means everything to me.
