Kristina McGahan RN, BSN, LNC
Kristina McGahan, RN, BSN, LNC, is an experienced registered nurse, legal nurse consultant, and nurse recovery coach with more than 27 years of experience in healthcare. Based in Magnolia, Texas, she has built a career spanning cardiovascular care, telemetry, progressive care, medical-surgical nursing, and leadership roles within hospital systems. Kristina earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1998 and has maintained advanced clinical certifications including ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale. Throughout her career, she has served as a preceptor and educator, mentoring nurses and contributing to hospital orientation programs while sharing her deep knowledge of cardiac and telemetry care.
In addition to her clinical work, Kristina is a Legal Nurse Consultant who partners with attorneys to analyze complex medical records and translate them into clear, evidence-based insights. Drawing on decades of hands-on experience in patient care and healthcare leadership, she conducts case merit reviews, prepares detailed medical chronologies, and identifies potential deviations from the standard of care. Her work helps attorneys in medical malpractice, personal injury, and wrongful death cases understand the clinical details that can significantly impact case strategy and outcomes.
Kristina is also the founder of Mind Over Matter: Nursing Recovery Summit, where she helps nurses recover from burnout through nervous-system based coaching designed to support healing while keeping them in the profession they love. Having witnessed the emotional and physical toll nursing can take, she is passionate about helping nurses process trauma, restore balance, and reconnect with their sense of purpose. She is also the author of What Every Nurse Must Know: Telemetry Secrets, a practical guide created to strengthen nurses’ clinical understanding and critical thinking in cardiac monitoring, further reflecting her commitment to improving both nurse well-being and patient care.

I wrote a book called 'What Every Nurse Must Know: Telemetry Secrets' that was published in October of last year. I wrote it because I work with cardiac and telemetry patients, and there are so many nurses that work in that field as well but they don't know how to piece it all together. I got tired of repeating myself, so I decided to just put this in a book. The book helps nurses understand how to read the telemetry monitor, and when they see something's not right on the monitor, to think about checking the electrolytes, checking the leads to make sure they're placed right, and checking the vital signs. Their critical thinking skills are not there, and that's scary for the patient. The book has a website at whateveryNurseMustKnow.com and is also available on Amazon. I've also served as a preceptor for years and have done teaching at hospital orientations in the past.
