Khaled F. Salhab, MD, FACS
Dr. Khaled F. Salhab, MD, FACS, is an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon recognized for his expertise in both routine and complex cardiac procedures, including coronary artery and valve surgery, as well as advanced aortic, endovascular, and transcatheter therapies. With formal fellowship training and extensive clinical experience, Dr. Salhab has successfully performed thousands of operations, consistently achieving excellent patient outcomes. His dedication to advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery is reflected in his leadership roles and contributions to clinical research and innovative surgical techniques.
Since 2013, Dr. Salhab has served as an attending cardiothoracic surgeon at NYU Langone Long Island, where he also held the positions of Surgical Director of the Heart and Valve Institute and Assistant Professor of Surgery. He is actively pursuing an appointment as Associate Professor of Surgery, demonstrating his commitment to both patient care and surgical education. Additionally, he has chaired initiatives on quality and patient safety, emphasizing his dedication to maintaining the highest standards in surgical practice.
Dr. Salhab is deeply committed to education and mentorship. He has trained medical students, residents, and physician assistants, guiding future leaders in cardiothoracic surgery. His expertise is recognized nationally; he serves as a question writer for the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (SESATS) and is frequently invited to present at prominent professional gatherings, including the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Aortic Symposium.
Beyond his clinical and academic work, Dr. Salhab is a prolific researcher and innovator, contributing to numerous publications, book chapters, and novel surgical methods. His research interests include complex hybrid aortic surgery, structural heart disease, cardiac tumors, and heart failure management. Outside the operating room, he enjoys motorcycle touring, soccer, quality time with his family, and fine dining, reflecting a well-rounded approach to life and personal fulfillment.
