Justin Ely, LAc
Justin Ely, LAc is a licensed acupuncturist at Soma Health Center in Howard County, Maryland, specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, tick-borne illnesses, Lyme disease, and Alpha-gal syndrome. As a Lyme disease specialist, Justin offers compassionate, integrative care that blends traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and the Neurological Integration System (NIS) to help patients restore balance and vitality. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology from Bastyr University and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine, complemented by advanced certification as a Master Practitioner of NIS.
Justin’s healing journey and career as an acupuncturist began during his adolescent years when he struggled with major depression exacerbated by the side effects of Ritalin and Prozac. His parents introduced him to Dr. Alice Lee, a renowned holistic psychiatrist whose mentorship and care transformed his life. Through holistic modalities and supplementation, Dr. Lee helped Justin find profound relief, inspiring him to dedicate his life to helping others heal naturally. By age 17, Justin had already begun working with clients using techniques like PSYCH-K, assisting individuals in managing stress, lifestyle challenges, and emotional well-being. His curiosity and passion for holistic medicine deepened further when he personally faced Lyme disease, an experience that led him to explore herbal remedies, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine, modalities that ultimately restored his health and strengthened his commitment to integrative healing.
As Justin’s recovery unfolded, his exploration of advanced holistic therapies continued. During acupuncture school in Oregon, he discovered the Neurological Integration System (NIS), a modality that elevated his understanding of how the body heals at a neurological level. Captivated by its transformative effects, he pursued advanced NIS training and has since spent over seven years integrating it into his clinical practice. Today, Justin combines NIS, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine to deliver comprehensive, personalized care for patients with complex conditions, particularly Lyme disease and related disorders. His work is driven by the same passion that began in his youth, a desire to guide others toward lasting wellness, resilience, and harmony through the power of holistic medicine.
