Julie Agbasi, PT, DPT, is an experienced Acute Care Physical Therapist with 19 years of dedicated practice across ICU, step-down, surgical, and cardiothoracic units. Known for her strong clinical judgment, patient advocacy, and compassionate bedside manner, she provides high-quality care to medically complex and post-surgical patients. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Julie ensures effective communication with diverse patient populations, enhancing adherence to therapy and improving outcomes.

Julie has extensive expertise in acute and intensive care rehabilitation, including management of LVAD and ECMO patients, early mobility programs, and complex post-surgical care. She is skilled at conducting comprehensive evaluations, designing individualized treatment plans, and educating patients and families on safe mobility, weight-bearing precautions, and postoperative care. Her ability to rapidly adapt to new clinical technologies and device protocols ensures her patients receive evidence-based, cutting-edge care.

Throughout her career, Julie has served as a mentor and clinical instructor to Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students, fostering clinical reasoning, patient advocacy, and interprofessional collaboration. She has supervised physical therapy assistants, collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams, and led in-service trainings for nursing staff on safe patient handling and body mechanics, promoting workplace safety and optimal patient outcomes.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I enjoy helping my patients regain their independence. Supporting them as they recover, build strength, and return to their daily activities is the most fulfilling part of my work.
