Judith A. Okun, DMD
Dr. Judith A. Okun is a dedicated orthodontist based in Rye Brook, New York, with more than two decades of experience in creating beautiful, functional smiles for both adults and children. Coming from a family legacy of dentistry—she is a third‑generation New York dentist—Dr. Okun developed early on an appreciation for the impact that good oral health and a confident smile can have on one’s life. She takes personal pride in the fact that many of her patients are multi‑generational, with parents referring children and even grandparents continuing care within the same practice. Dr. Okun earned her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University, followed by her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from University of Pennsylvania. She then completed a General Practice Residency at the Dental Care Center of the University of Pennsylvania and externships at the University of Pennsylvania’s associated hospitals. To become a specialist in orthodontics, she completed advanced training at Columbia University, earning a Certificate in Orthodontics. In 1991, she and her father were co‑recipients of the Joseph E. Johnson Table Clinic Award for their work in dentofacial orthopedics. Dr. Okun is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and maintains a commitment to ongoing professional development through membership in numerous dental organizations. Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Okun is actively involved in her community, volunteering with organizations such as Bikur Cholim of Rockland County, which supports families of patients at local medical centers and the Chevra Kadisha of Westchester, which prepares the deceased for burial. Outside the office, she values time with her family and faith, engaging in religious education and shared cultural traditions. These facets of her life enrich her work, fostering a environment where patients feel heard, valued, and cared for—not just as orthodontic cases, but as individuals.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing orthodontics is watching my patients grow up and being part of their journey to a confident smile. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the transformation—not just in their teeth and facial structure, but in their self-confidence and happiness. Helping to change their smiles and positively impact their lives is what makes my work truly meaningful.
