Dr. John Phillip Andrawis, MD, MBA is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He currently serves as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and Medical Director of the Orthopedic Surgery Service Line at Torrance Memorial Hospital in Torrance, California. In addition to his hospital leadership role, Dr. Andrawis maintains active teaching and clinical responsibilities at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he directs resident research and participates in faculty education. His dual focus on clinical excellence and team-based care enables him to deliver highly effective outcomes for patients undergoing joint replacement procedures.

Dr. Andrawis’ professional philosophy centers on improving patients’ quality of life through hip and knee replacement surgery. He emphasizes a compassionate, multidisciplinary approach, coordinating closely with surgical teams, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. Since joining Torrance Memorial in 2018, he has been instrumental in advancing hospital-based orthopedic programs, implementing value-based healthcare initiatives, and mentoring the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. He also contributes to the broader field of orthopedics as a reviewer for Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and an active participant in research and publications focused on joint replacement and healthcare outcomes.

Dr. Andrawis earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2012, followed by residency training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds an MBA and is recognized as a Fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). Beyond his clinical and administrative work, Dr. Andrawis is committed to advancing orthopedic education, research, and innovation, while fostering patient-centered care that emphasizes both safety and measurable results.
