Holly J. Williamson, ARNP, CWS, CWCN, DWC, is a seasoned nurse practitioner with more than 40 years in nursing and 50 years in healthcare. Her career reflects a deep commitment to hands-on patient care, shaped by a strong work ethic developed while growing up on a dairy farm in Vermont. Holly’s clinical expertise centers on wound care, ostomy management, and diabetic foot care, with additional experience in family practice and orthopedics. She has spent the past 15 years serving veterans at the VA in Seattle, where she is known for her compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Holly’s professional journey is also marked by her service in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1997, where she pursued her nursing education and developed a lifelong connection to military and veteran communities. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and completed her master’s degree at Seattle Pacific University in 2003. A Fellow of the American Wound Care Society and a Diplomate of the Advanced Wound Care Society, Holly holds advanced certifications in wound care and diabetic foot management, underscoring her dedication to clinical excellence.

What Holly values most about her work is the connection she builds with her patients. She believes nursing is not just about treatment, but about listening, understanding, and meeting people where they are. As she prepares for retirement, Holly looks forward to spending more time with her grandson, traveling, and continuing to enjoy life outside of medicine. Her legacy is one of service, resilience, and meaningful impact on the patients and communities she has cared for throughout her career.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I enjoy connecting with my patients on a personal level, especially listening to the stories my veteran patients share. Those conversations create a deeper sense of trust and understanding, reminding me that caring for someone goes far beyond treating a condition—it’s about honoring their experiences, service, and life journey.
