Holly Walton, MA, NCC, LBS, LPC, LCMHC is a licensed clinical mental health counselor with over 13 years of experience specializing in child and family therapy. In June 2024, she founded Winding Brook Counseling, her private practice dedicated to supporting children, parents, and families in building stronger, more harmonious relationships. Walton’s work reflects a commitment to early intervention and evidence-based approaches that foster healthy development and family well-being.

Walton takes a client-centered and integrative approach to counseling, tailoring her methods to meet the unique needs of each child and family. She is a within-agency trainer for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based intervention for children ages 2 to 7 with externalizing behaviors, and a Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) rostered clinician in New Hampshire, which emphasizes play-based and attachment-focused interventions. Her practice also incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, traditional talk therapy, and faith-based counseling for clients who wish to integrate Christian perspectives into treatment.

Throughout her career, Walton has focused on empowering caregivers with practical parenting strategies while enhancing communication and emotional attunement within families. She provides services both in-person and virtually and is recognized by PCIT International as one of the few clinicians in New Hampshire certified to deliver the full PCIT model, highlighting her specialized expertise in this modality. Her goal is to increase access to effective early childhood interventions and to support families in creating more positive, connected home environments.

Prior to opening her private practice, Walton worked with Wesley Spectrum Services (now Wesley Family Services) in Pennsylvania, providing community-based therapy for children on the autism spectrum. She also serves as a consultant for Manchester’s Head Start program through the Community Action Program of Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties, offering training and guidance to educators and caregivers. Through these roles, Walton has contributed to broader community initiatives, helping to strengthen early childhood mental health support across multiple New Hampshire counties.

Walton earned her Master’s in Counseling from Waynesburg University and holds credentials as a National Certified Counselor and a licensed clinical mental health counselor. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association, reflecting her dedication to professional growth and engagement in the wider counseling community. Through her private practice, specialized training, and community collaboration, Holly Walton continues to advance the field of child and family mental health care in New Hampshire, making evidence-based interventions more accessible to the families who need them most.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about my work is the opportunity to meet people where they are, help them see new perspectives, and guide them toward a more fulfilling and joyful life. Early in my career, while working in Pennsylvania with Wesley Spectrum Services as a community-based clinician supporting children on the autism spectrum, I discovered my passion for working with young populations. Observing the positive changes that came from building consistent routines and nurturing relationships within the households I visited was incredibly rewarding. That experience shaped the direction of my practice and helped me develop the expertise I now bring to my clients.
