Holly Walton, MA, NCC, LBS, LPC, LCMHC, is a licensed clinical mental health counselor with more than 13 years of experience specializing in child and family therapy. In June 2024, she founded Winding Brook Counseling, a private practice focused on helping children, parents, and families develop stronger relationships and healthier patterns of communication. Her work emphasizes early intervention and evidence-based care designed to support emotional development and promote long-term family well-being.

Walton uses a client-centered and integrative counseling approach, tailoring treatment to meet each individual’s unique needs. She serves as a within-agency trainer for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based intervention for young children ages two to seven experiencing externalizing behaviors, and is a New Hampshire rostered clinician for Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), a play-based, attachment-focused model. Her clinical practice also incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, traditional talk therapy, and faith-based counseling for clients who wish to include Christian perspectives as part of their healing process.

Throughout her career, Walton has focused on empowering caregivers with practical parenting strategies while strengthening emotional connection and communication within families. She provides both in-person and virtual services and is recognized by PCIT International as one of the few clinicians in New Hampshire certified to deliver the full PCIT model, demonstrating her advanced expertise in early childhood mental health interventions. Her goal is to expand access to effective therapeutic support and help families build more positive and connected home environments.

Before opening her private practice, Walton provided community-based therapy for children. She also serves as a consultant for the Head Start program through the Community Action Program of Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties, offering training and guidance to educators and caregivers. Walton earned her master’s degree in counseling from Waynesburg University, holds National Certified Counselor credentials, and is an active member of the American Counseling Association, reflecting her continued commitment to professional excellence and community impact.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about my work is the opportunity to meet people where they are, help them see new perspectives, and guide them toward a more fulfilling and joyful life. Early in my career, while working in Pennsylvania with Wesley Spectrum Services as a community-based clinician supporting children on the autism spectrum, I discovered my passion for working with young populations. Observing the positive changes that came from building consistent routines and nurturing relationships within the households I visited was incredibly rewarding. That experience shaped the direction of my practice and helped me develop the expertise I now bring to my clients.
