Gisela I. Banauch, MD
Dr. Gisela I. Banauch is a highly skilled specialist in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Driven by a strong academic foundation, she earned her medical degree at Justus-Liebig Universität Gießen in Germany in 1992. She then completed her residency training at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center and further honed her expertise through a fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center—preparing her for the complex challenges of critical care and lung disease.
In her current role, Dr. Banauch serves as Director of the Point-of-Care Medical Critical Care Ultrasound Program, a position that highlights her dedication to integrating bedside imaging into intensive care practice to enhance diagnostic speed and accuracy. Alongside her clinical work, she holds an academic appointment as Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, reflecting her commitment to teaching the next generation of physicians and advancing the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine.
Her clinical interests span acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), venous thromboembolism (VTE), and the management of critically ill patients requiring advanced pulmonary support.
