Emily Anker, MS, CCC-SLP
Emily Anker, M.S., CCC-SLP, CBIS is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Brain Injury Specialist serving individuals across the lifespan in medical, educational, and community-based settings. She specializes in neurorehabilitation, with clinical expertise in language and cognitive-communication disorders related to acquired brain injury, stroke, and neurodegenerative disease. Emily is passionate about delivering functional, evidence-based therapy that promotes independence and enhances quality of life.
As the Owner and Speech-Language Pathologist at Brain Bridge Therapy, PLLC in Des Moines, Iowa, Emily provides in-home services to clients experiencing communication and cognitive impairments due to neurological conditions or developmental delays. She administers and interprets comprehensive diagnostic assessments and provides treatment for speech, language, cognition, voice, swallowing, and AAC needs. She collaborates closely with healthcare professionals, educators, and families while actively engaging in community education and awareness initiatives.
Previously, Emily served as a PRN Speech-Language Pathologist at Ability KC in Kansas City, Missouri, where she supported adult patients with acquired brain injuries and contributed to aphasia rehabilitation programs. She also worked full-time within the Center School District, managing a diverse caseload of students, developing individualized treatment plans, leading IEP meetings, and collaborating within interdisciplinary special education teams.
Emily earned her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University and her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa, with a minor in Family Studies. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS). Licensed in Iowa and Missouri, she is a two-time recipient of the Award for Continuing Education (ACE), reflecting her commitment to lifelong learning and clinical excellence.
