Elizabeth England, RN, BSN, CLNC

Elizabeth England, RN, BSN, CLNC, is a seasoned healthcare professional and legal nurse consultant with more than 43 years of experience in nursing and clinical practice. She currently operates her own sole proprietorship in legal nurse consulting, where she supports attorneys in the evaluation of medical cases, particularly those involving medical malpractice. Her work focuses on reviewing medical records, identifying potential breaches in the standard of nursing care, and preparing detailed case analyses that assist in determining legal merit.

Her nursing career began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Early in her life, the loss of her father due to a sudden cardiac event profoundly influenced her commitment to healthcare, particularly in cardiac care and prevention. This personal experience helped shape her dedication to providing high-quality patient care throughout her extensive clinical career.

Over the course of her professional journey, she has gained broad and diverse clinical experience across multiple healthcare settings. Her background includes medical-surgical nursing, telemetry, step-down units, and a significant 15-year tenure in intensive care. She has also worked in travel nursing assignments and cruise ship nursing, experiences that expanded her adaptability and clinical expertise in varied and dynamic environments.

In addition to her consulting work, England continues to practice part-time in cardiac catheterization lab recovery, working PRN several times per month. This ongoing clinical involvement allows her to maintain active licensure and remain current with evolving standards of care. Her license remains valid through 2029, reflecting her continued commitment to both clinical practice and professional excellence.

Her transition into legal nurse consulting was inspired by her experience serving on a jury for a wrongful death case, which sparked her interest in the intersection of healthcare and law. Following formal training through the Vicki Malazzo Institute, she became a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC). She is also a member of a national legal nurse consulting organization and continues to grow her practice through professional networking, continuing education, and advocacy for the nursing profession.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about my work is the opportunity to pursue both truth and justice, medically and legally. I am deeply committed to ensuring that facts are accurately understood and appropriately represented, and I take great value in contributing to that process. Throughout my career, I have always viewed nursing as a team-centered profession, and my goal has consistently been to support collaboration and ensure that everyone I work alongside is valued and respected. I hope to continue contributing to the recognition of nursing as both a true calling and a highly skilled profession. Through legal nurse consulting, I am also able to further advocate for the profession by reinforcing standards of care and supporting accurate clinical interpretation in legal contexts.
