Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I find the greatest joy in practicing internal medicine because of its complexity, depth, and the meaningful stories behind each patient. Growing up in a small town, I was deeply influenced by my parents, both physicians, demonstrated the profound impact medicine and service can have on individuals and communities. That early exposure inspired me to pursue a field that is both intellectually challenging and deeply rewarding. Internal medicine offers the perfect balance of diagnostic reasoning, clinical problem-solving, and continuous learning—almost like being a medical detective. Today, I am especially passionate about lifestyle medicine and helping patients understand that long-term health is driven more by daily habits and understanding the disease pathology, than medications alone. I often incorporate exercise, resistance training, and functional movement into patient visits to emphasize healthy aging and strength. My goal is always to educate and empower patients, so they understand the “why” behind their care. As I often tell my patients, “I didn’t become a doctor to fix the numbers on a computer screen - I became a doctor to help you live a better life."
