Cynthia Goczol, MBA-SW, LCSW, CCM, is a highly accomplished Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Sunflower Counseling & Consulting, LLC, a private practice based in Commerce City, Colorado. With nearly 16 years of experience in the mental health field, she provides comprehensive care to individuals and families across the lifespan, from adolescence to end of life. Cynthia’s expertise includes primary care integration, case management, individual and family therapy, substance abuse support, and advanced care planning, with a particular focus on assisting disabled populations in accessing necessary benefits. Her work combines compassion, advocacy, and a collaborative approach to ensure patients achieve meaningful progress in their lives.

Beyond her clinical practice, Cynthia has held key roles in several healthcare organizations, including UCHealth, HCA HealthONE, and ReedGroup, where she developed extensive experience in crisis assessment, motivational interviewing, and behavioral health case management. Her commitment to advancing social work extends to education and mentorship, as she trains practicum students in mental health, substance abuse, and advanced care planning. She is also interested in expanding access to natural medicine treatments for mental health populations, offering alternatives to traditional daily medication regimens.

Cynthia’s career path reflects her dedication to helping people overcome obstacles and achieve success on their own terms. Originally drawn to marine biology because of her love for dolphins, she ultimately found her calling in social work, inspired by its focus on systemic improvement and collaborative problem-solving. Her professional philosophy centers on patient-defined goals, holistic care, and creating environments where individuals and families can heal, grow, and thrive. Outside of her practice, she continues to advocate for mental health awareness and innovative approaches to care, making a lasting impact on the Colorado community she serves.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I really love most about being a social worker is being able to help people move past somewhere that they're stuck in their life and to become successful - whatever that might mean to them. I think it's incredibly rewarding to meet people where they are and support them in defining and achieving their own version of success. Every person's journey is different, and being able to walk alongside them during that process and witness their growth is what keeps me passionate about this work.
