Chantal Butler, LPN
Chantal Butler, LPN, has over 25 years of nursing experience spanning a diverse range of healthcare settings and specialties. Her career has included work in home health, wound care, orthopedics, spine surgery, long-term care, urology, and utilization management. The majority of her career has been devoted to wound care management, where she served as the lead wound care nurse at a facility for more than five years. She spent approximately 15 years in long-term care and an additional 5–6 years in hospital-based care. Chantal received her LPN training from Pinellas Technical Educational Centers (PTEC) in St. Petersburg, Florida, completing her certification in 2000 or 2001, and she previously served as a CPR instructor for several years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, Chantal divides her professional time between her role in utilization management at Elevance Health and her leadership of Enlighten Florida, a nonprofit organization she founded in late 2024. Enlighten Florida is dedicated to promoting healthy living initiatives throughout the Tampa Bay community, leveraging Chantal’s extensive healthcare experience to develop programs that improve wellness and preventive care.
In addition to her professional and nonprofit work, Chantal serves on the board of the Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) at Tampa General Hospital. She is also actively involved in multiple faith-based organizations and community initiatives, bringing her expertise and compassion to support patients, families, and the broader community.
Chantal’s vision for the future includes expanding Enlighten Florida from a local initiative into a nationwide organization focused on promoting healthy living programs across the country. Her dedication to nursing, community health, and education continues to guide her mission to improve the quality of life for individuals and families, reflecting her belief that good health is the foundation for all other opportunities.
Under Chantal’s leadership, Enlighten Florida has launched several community-based programs focused on nutrition, fitness, and preventive health education. She works closely with local schools, community centers, and healthcare providers to ensure the initiatives are accessible and impactful for all residents. By combining her clinical expertise with her understanding of community needs, Chantal ensures that Enlighten Florida not only educates but also empowers individuals to make sustainable lifestyle changes that improve long-term health outcomes.

• Founder & Director, Enlighten Florida (2024–Present)
I founded Enlighten Florida at the end of 2024, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy living initiatives within the Tampa Bay community. My background as a nurse directly influenced my decision to start this nonprofit, as I wanted to create programs that encourage and support healthier lifestyles. I currently split my time equally between my nursing work in utilization management for Elevance Health and my nonprofit initiatives. My vision for Enlighten Florida is to grow from a local organization into one with nationwide reach over the next five years. I strongly believe that healthy living encompasses everyone, and that maintaining good health is foundational to everything else we do. This belief drives my passion for the organization’s mission and the programs we provide throughout the community.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is that it’s constantly evolving. There’s always something new to learn, and the field never stays static. I love that medicine is dynamic, continually growing, and full of developments that challenge me to stay informed and improve my practice. That constant evolution keeps me motivated and engaged, and it allows me to bring the best care to those I serve.
