Caitlin Burnett, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C, AGACNP-BC, RN is a distinguished Doctor of Nursing Practice with board certifications in family, emergency, and acute care nursing. Her career is defined by adaptability, lifelong learning, and dedication to delivering exceptional care in high-acuity medical environments. Dr. Burnett currently practices at UF Health Jacksonville, providing care in both the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, where she manages critically ill patients, performs advanced procedures, and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams. Known for her precision, leadership, and sound clinical judgment, Dr. Burnett thrives in fast-paced, high-stakes settings and consistently demonstrates excellence in patient care and critical decision-making.

Dr. Burnett’s path to advanced nursing practice reflects both curiosity and resilience. She earned a B.S. in Chemical Science from Florida State University in 2015, where she published research on Polymorphs of Succinylsulfathiazolethrough the CHM2211L Organic Chemistry Lab, and a B.S. in Nursing from Jacksonville University in 2018. Inspired by personal experiences, including her mother’s battle with cancer and her own recovery from a serious motor vehicle accident, she was drawn to a career that combines science, compassion, and service.

Dr. Burnett began her clinical journey in emergency medical services and as a medical assistant before advancing to registered nursing roles in emergency departments at UF Health Jacksonville, where she cared for both adult and pediatric populations. These experiences strengthened her clinical instincts and deepened her commitment to emergency and acute care.

Seeking to expand her expertise, Dr. Burnett earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Emory University, completing advanced training as a family and emergency nurse practitioner. She later completed a post-certificate in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at Jacksonville University, allowing her to further specialize in intensive care medicine. In critical care settings, she has managed highly complex patients requiring advanced interventions, including mechanical circulatory and respiratory support.

Beyond bedside care, Dr. Burnett is deeply engaged in professional service, volunteering with the Jacksonville Emergency Medical Auxiliary and serving as an adjunct professor at Jacksonville University. She continues to contribute to nursing scholarship through ongoing research and writing, while mentoring the next generation of nurses and advanced practice providers.

Dr. Caitlin Burnett exemplifies the integration of knowledge, compassion, and resilience, elevating modern advanced practice nursing through a combination of clinical excellence, academic engagement, and service.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the opportunity to care for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments and help guide them through complex, high-stress situations. I value the blend of critical thinking, teamwork, and compassion required to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care. Most rewarding is knowing that my work can make a meaningful difference for patients and their families when it matters most.
