Benton Ashe, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Adult Outpatient Therapist at Watauga Behavioral Health Services with Frontier Health in Johnson City, Tennessee. Prior to his current role, he worked as a Case Manager with Ballad Health and served as a Family Intervention Specialist with Youth Villages, where he provided therapeutic support to children, families, and caregivers. His earlier experience also includes serving as a Survivor Advocate Intern with OASIS Inc., where he supported survivors of intimate partner violence through crisis counseling, safety planning, and advocacy services, as well as a Client Services Intern with the Urban Ministry Center, assisting individuals experiencing homelessness with counseling and resource navigation.
His clinical focus includes treating PTSD, complex PTSD, narcissistic abuse, grief, anxiety disorders, and parenting challenges. Benton is extensively trained in evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He is particularly passionate about EMDR therapy, which he frequently utilizes to help clients process trauma and move toward healing and recovery.
Benton is also a nurturing parenting certified clinician and has a strong interest in supporting individuals impacted by emotional abuse and difficult relational dynamics. His therapeutic approach emphasizes empowerment, helping clients rebuild their sense of identity, strengthen coping skills, and reclaim control over their lives. He is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and valued.
Outside of his professional work, Benton enjoys reading science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels, as well as watching movies and television series. He also values physical activity and maintains an active lifestyle through exercise. In his personal life, he enjoys spending time with his cat, Chatter. Benton’s combination of clinical expertise, diverse experience, and compassionate approach allows him to provide meaningful support to individuals navigating complex emotional and life challenges.
