Amber Gray, CNA
Amber Gray is a compassionate healthcare professional with more than a decade of experience serving patients across home care, hospital, rehabilitation, and long-term care settings. Throughout her career, she has worked in multiple roles, including Certified Nursing Assistant, Activities Director, Activities Assistant, and healthcare administrator, providing care and support to diverse patient populations across North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and California. Her broad clinical experience includes geriatrics, home health, trauma, wound care, and behavioral health, with a particular passion for advocating for vulnerable individuals who are unable to speak for themselves.
Amber's commitment to patient care is rooted in empathy, integrity, and a deep respect for human dignity. She found her greatest fulfillment working in long-term care, where she cared for elderly patients and individuals living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions. Beyond meeting physical needs, she focused on providing emotional support, meaningful companionship, and a sense of connection for patients facing isolation and vulnerability. Her ability to build trust and foster comfort made a lasting impact on both patients and their families, reflecting her belief that healthcare is about treating the whole person, not just their condition.
Inspired by an early internship with the osteopathic medicine program at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Amber developed a lifelong passion for healthcare and patient advocacy. Although she recently stepped away from active clinical practice due to personal health challenges, she remains deeply connected to the field and hopes to return in an administrative leadership capacity, where she can continue improving patient care and healthcare operations. Outside of healthcare, Amber is a published author currently working on a novel and a singer-songwriter developing an album, bringing the same creativity and dedication to her artistic pursuits as she has throughout her healthcare career.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I loved most about healthcare, especially working in long-term care, was that it's so much more than just taking care of somebody physically. It's about being present with them, being their family when they don't have any, being their emotional connection to stave off depression, being the calm in their anxiety, being their guiding light. It's so much deeper and more emotional than just being the person who comes in and helps them get dressed. I was very passionate about giving patients the time and effort they deserve for their dignity, being able to help maintain that in a place where they're very vulnerable. I would imagine myself or my loved ones being in that position and how I would want them to be treated - with love, compassion, and empathy. My main thing was always integrity, kindness, compassion, and empathy, to be more like Jesus and how He would treat these people. No matter what was going on in my personal life, I would walk through those doors and make them smile, make them laugh, bring them any type of joy. That healed me in ways that physical medicine could never heal me. It was just a place where I belonged. Being able to be used like that felt like such a huge blessing.
