Diane Helm, MSN, FNP-C, is an accomplished Family Nurse Practitioner and respected healthcare professional based in Oak Ridge, North Carolina. Diane earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from South University, following her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Associate of Science in Nursing from Guilford Technical Community College. Her advanced education, combined with decades of clinical nursing experience, has shaped her into a well-rounded provider with a strong foundation in both acute and primary care settings.
Her clinical skill set includes a wide range of diagnostic and procedural competencies such as clinical assessment and diagnosis, suturing and incision and drainage procedures, joint and trigger point injections, carpal tunnel and plantar fasciitis injections, nail trephination and avulsion, splinting, and 12-lead EKG interpretation. She is also highly regarded for her teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills.
Throughout her career, Diane has served in diverse clinical environments, including urgent care, primary care, functional medicine, and home health assessments. She currently serves as the owner and Family Nurse Practitioner at Care First Medical, PLLC, where she provides comprehensive services including urgent care, primary care, hormone replacement therapy, weight management, and functional medicine. She also continues her work with Signify Health performing in-home health assessments.
Diane is actively involved in professional organizations and international medical mission work, reflecting her dedication to service beyond her local practice. She has participated in medical mission trips in Peru, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Guatemala through International Medical Relief. Her professional affiliations include leadership and membership roles within nursing associations, underscoring her commitment to advancing the profession and serving as an advocate for patients and colleagues alike.

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is taking care of people and guiding them toward better health. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing patients recover, regain their strength, and improve their quality of life. Being able to combine clinical expertise with compassionate care allows me to make a meaningful difference in each person’s well-being, and that is truly the heart of why I chose this profession.
