Dr. Zakia D. Bowen, MD, is the Founder and Physician at Whole Path Health in West Orange, New Jersey, which officially opened in October 2025. She leads a practice dedicated to restoring deeply personal, patient-centered care by combining the principles of functional medicine with modern scientific approaches. Dr. Bowen focuses on uncovering the root causes of complex health issues, particularly for women navigating hormonal, metabolic, and cardiometabolic challenges, ensuring each patient’s story and health goals guide every clinical decision.

Before founding Whole Path Health, Dr. Bowen served as a hospitalist at esteemed institutions including St. Joseph’s Health, RWJBarnabas Health, and Envision Healthcare. Her extensive experience in internal medicine and acute care has refined her diagnostic expertise and clinical judgment, equipping her to manage complex medical conditions with precision and compassion. This foundation allows her to seamlessly integrate evidence-based medicine with holistic, functional strategies that prioritize long-term wellness.

Dr. Bowen earned her Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine residency at New York Medical College, SJRMC. She specializes in functional medicine, women’s health, cardiometabolic health, and longevity.
