Dr. Zachary Petruso is a chiropractor specializing in upper cervical care, with a particular focus on atlas adjustments and their connection to the nervous system and vagus nerve function. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, he began his career as an ISSA-certified personal trainer, which informs his approach to chiropractic care by emphasizing the integration of form, function, and overall wellness. Dr. Petruso believes in conservative, non-pharmaceutical management, guiding patients to heal from within by optimizing the body’s natural capacity for recovery.

Dr. Petruso completed an accelerated 3 Plus 3 program at Logan University, earning both his Bachelor of Life Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees in just five years, graduating magna cum laude in the Doctor of Chiropractic program. After working as an associate with his mentor, Dr. Alex Gibbert, at Limitless Chiropractic in Redbud, Illinois, he opened his own practice in St. Louis in January 2025, marking the first Missouri location for Limitless Chiropractic. He is an active member of the American Chiropractic Association and a former vice president of the Pi Kappa Chi chiropractic fraternity.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Petruso is passionate about community education and research. He has presented on topics such as women’s health, pregnancy, menopause, and athletic injuries, and has participated in studies evaluating patient outcomes and adjustment effectiveness. Outside of work, he enjoys life with his wife, two daughters, and four cats, bringing the same dedication and care to his family as he does to his patients.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I love helping people, and what I enjoy most is being able to help people heal from within without relying on traditional medications. I focus on identifying and correcting the root cause of problems rather than just treating symptoms. Most of the time, atlas issues actually occur during childbirth and go undetected until people reach skeletal maturity, and then they start having unexplained things happen. When people come to my office, they've usually tried everything else and nothing's worked. For example, with headaches and migraines, I can take care of it in no time, and they think it's witchcraft, when in reality, I just have an approach that looks at stuff that most people do not. I like to say, the power that made the body heals the body. A lot of people thank me for healing them, and I always tell them I didn't do anything, I just set everything in place where it needs to be, and your body did the rest.
