Vahe Akopian, MD

Dr. Vahe Akopian is a board-certified neurologist who grew up in Los Angeles and has built a career focused on both clinical neurology and advanced neurological monitoring. He completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA, where he also pursued a minor in Armenian Studies alongside his pre-medical training. He went on to earn his medical degree from St. George’s University before completing his neurology residency at USC Keck and LAC+USC Medical Center, gaining extensive clinical training in a high-volume academic medical environment.

During his residency, Dr. Akopian developed a strong interest in intra-operative neuromonitoring, a highly specialized field that supports spine and brain surgeries by tracking neural signals in real time. He completed an additional fifth-year training at Keck USC in intra-operative neuromonitoring, where he worked to help safeguard neurological function during complex surgical procedures. In addition to his surgical support work, he has also focused on cognitive neurology, with particular emphasis on early detection and treatment of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease and emerging anti-amyloid therapies aimed at slowing disease progression.

Dr. Akopian has dedicated more than a decade to neurology practice and is focused on expanding access to advanced neurological and cognitive care in the Los Angeles community where he was raised. He is currently establishing ANSA Neurology and Cognitive Care Institute, where he plans to continue integrating intra-operative neuromonitoring with modern approaches to memory and cognitive disorders. He treats a wide range of neurological conditions including headaches, seizures, neuropathy, back pain, Parkinson’s disease, sleep disorders, and memory loss. He is also fluent in Spanish and Armenian and is a member of professional organizations including the American Academy of Neurology and the Armenian American Medical Society.
