Dr. Tasaduq Hussain Mir, MD, FAAFP, DABFM, is a board-certified family medicine physician, educator, and academic leader based in Fort Worth, Texas. With more than 15 years of experience in both clinical practice and academic medicine, he is widely recognized for his commitment to advancing primary care through education, mentorship, and leadership. Dr. Mir’s work focuses on fostering patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous professional development within residency training programs.

Currently, Dr. Mir serves as an Associate Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and as the Program Director of the Medical City Fort Worth Family Medicine Residency Program. In these roles, he plays a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of family medicine physicians, guiding residents through rigorous clinical training while promoting a culture of compassion, innovation, and lifelong learning.

Dr. Mir began his medical journey at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran, where he earned his medical degree in 2003. He later completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in 2012, where he served as Chief Resident. He further enhanced his expertise by completing a fellowship in Academic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. His continued pursuit of excellence includes certification in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona, along with advanced leadership training through the NIPDD Fellowship and Certification in Remediation in Graduate Medical Education (C-RGME).

Prior to his current appointments, Dr. Mir dedicated ten years to UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he served as faculty and as Medical Director for the Family Medicine inpatient service at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to the medical community through numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and professional presentations. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals and remains actively engaged in organizations such as the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD), Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP), Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), and KASHMER.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Mir values maintaining a balanced and fulfilling personal life. He enjoys spending quality time with his family, as well as engaging in hobbies such as gardening, hiking, and playing cricket. His dedication to both his career and personal well-being reflects his holistic approach to medicine and his commitment to inspiring those he mentors.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I am deeply passionate about working with and training the next generation of Family Medicine physicians. I find great meaning in mentoring residents, fostering their clinical growth, and helping them develop into compassionate, confident, and well-rounded physicians who can make a lasting impact in their communities. Teaching allows me to continually reflect on and refine my own practice, creating a dynamic environment of shared learning.


At the same time, I take immense pride and fulfillment in caring for my patients. Building long-term relationships, understanding their unique stories, and partnering with them on their health journey is at the heart of what I do. Seeing patients improve not just medically, but in their overall well-being reinforces my commitment to delivering thoughtful, patient-centered care.
