Shital Oli, MD
Dr. Shital Oli, MD (he/him), is a physician currently serving as Chief Fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at The Guthrie Clinic, based at Robert Packer Hospital. He is expected to complete his fellowship training in 2026. He is dedicated to the care of critically ill and medically complex patients, with a strong commitment to advancing excellence in pulmonary and critical care medicine through clinical practice, education, and research.
Dr. Oli began his medical career in Nepal, where he earned his medical degree in 2015 after five and a half years of rigorous training, including a comprehensive internship year. Following graduation, he served as a house officer in Nepal from 2015 to 2020, gaining broad clinical experience in internal medicine and patient care. He later pursued the United States Medical Licensing Examination pathway and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca from 2020 to 2023, where his training coincided with the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—an experience that significantly shaped his clinical approach and deepened his interest in critical care medicine.
In his current fellowship, Dr. Oli manages a diverse and high-acuity patient population across both intensive care and pulmonary settings. His ICU practice includes the management of respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis, septic shock, and COPD exacerbations, while his pulmonary clinic experience encompasses asthma, lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep-disordered breathing. He is also actively engaged in medical education as a Senior Clinical Instructor at Geisinger Medical Center, where he teaches medical students, residents, and junior fellows on topics including mechanical ventilation, shock management, and complex pulmonary disorders. A member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), Dr. Oli maintains a strong interest in academic medicine and collaborative research. His passion for the field was solidified during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he witnessed critically ill patients recover from prolonged ventilator support and continue their recovery journey in outpatient pulmonary care.
