Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I absolutely love going and talking to patients and finding out what their big concern is and how I can help them. Today was a really good example. There's a little lady that has dementia, not the most severe kind, but it's severe enough, and she just keeps saying, 'I'm scared, I'm scared,' but she doesn't tell us why. So I was adjusting her medicine to kind of make her more comfortable and less afraid. I want to be doing direct patient care because that's what I love. There are so many things you can do in nursing, and I've always tried to be versatile and not be pigeonholed. Even though I have a psych background, I still think I would like to do some internal medicine or work in a family practice clinic. But at the same time, what I'm doing right now gives me the option of doing 100% telehealth with a psych background if I ever can't get around physically. That's one big plus of being in the psych end of it.
