Dr. Sarab Alfata is a board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine with over 15 years of clinical experience dedicated to improving long-term health outcomes for her patients. She currently practices with Community Health Network in Fishers, Indiana, and serves as the lead physician for the Noblesville School District. In these roles, she focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, and helping individuals achieve sustainable improvements in their overall health and well-being.

Throughout her career, Dr. Alfata has developed a strong interest in addressing the root causes of chronic disease, particularly obesity and metabolic conditions. She is widely recognized for her patient-centered approach, which emphasizes not only medical treatment but also lifestyle modification and behavioral change. Her clinical work is grounded in evidence-based medicine and supported by a deep commitment to understanding the psychological and behavioral factors that influence long-term health outcomes.

Dr. Alfata is also the creator of LiFE+ (Life Plus), an integrated clinical and behavioral framework that combines medical science, positive psychology, and mind-body strategies. This innovative model helps patients explore the underlying patterns that contribute to chronic illness and weight-related conditions. By focusing on both “what to change” and “why change is difficult,” she guides patients toward sustainable transformation through self-awareness, behavioral alignment, and long-term habit formation.

Her academic background reflects her multidisciplinary approach to care. Dr. Alfata earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Damascus University and completed her Family Medicine residency at Saint Louis University. She further expanded her expertise by earning a Master’s degree in Positive Psychology from Indiana Wesleyan University and becoming a certified Mind-Body Eating Coach through the Institute for the Psychology of Eating. Her training allows her to blend clinical medicine with behavioral science in a highly integrative and effective manner.

Dr. Alfata is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and she is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Her work has helped patients achieve meaningful improvements in weight management, glycemic control, blood pressure, energy levels, and overall quality of life. Through her clinical practice and innovative LiFE+ framework, she continues to advance a more holistic and sustainable approach to modern medicine.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I value most about practicing medicine is seeing meaningful, sustainable transformation in my patients’ health and quality of life. For example, I recently worked with a patient in her mid-50s with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. Over the course of a year, she achieved significant improvement in her metabolic health, including normalization of her A1C, discontinuation of blood pressure medications, and sustained weight reduction.

Beyond the clinical outcomes, she reported increased energy, improved well-being, and the ability to pursue goals she had previously put aside. Experiences like this reinforce my commitment to an approach that integrates medical care with behavioral, psychological, and lifestyle factors to support long-term health and function.
