Rosanna Gonzalez
Rosanna Gonzalez is a dedicated drug and alcohol counselor with 26 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate the challenges of addiction and recovery. Certified since 2005 and active in the field since 2001, she earned her certification through the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program at Oxnard College in 2002. Throughout her career, Gonzalez has built a reputation for providing compassionate, client-centered care, working with diverse populations across a variety of treatment settings. She currently maintains a private counseling practice and serves on-call for a local treatment facility in Oxnard, California.
In addition to her counseling work, Gonzalez is the owner and operator of a sober living home that she established in 2007. Driven by a commitment to making recovery services accessible, she provides safe, supportive housing and quality treatment at an affordable cost for individuals working toward long-term sobriety. Her experience extends across multiple sectors, including probation, parole, hospital-based services, and community treatment programs, where she works with both adolescents and adults. She has also played an important role in mentoring the next generation of counselors by supervising students completing their field experience requirements and helping them develop the skills needed for successful careers in the field.
Gonzalez’s passion for recovery work is rooted in her own personal journey. Having overcome addiction herself more than 25 years ago, she understands firsthand the transformative impact that support, guidance, and belief can have on an individual’s life. Inspired by the counselor who stood by her and encouraged her when she struggled to believe in herself, Gonzalez has dedicated her career to paying that support forward. Her mission is to be a source of hope and encouragement for others, helping them recognize their potential, rebuild their lives, and achieve lasting recovery. For Gonzalez, counseling is more than a profession—it is a lifelong calling and an integral part of who she is.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I enjoy being available for people when they need help the most, even in the middle of the night. When somebody's calling and they have nowhere to go, I get up and go help them, even if it means bringing my kids along to make sure we're all safe. I'm passionate about planting seeds with the women and men in my community to help contribute to our future. I have kids who are growing up, and I think about what I can do, what's my part to help pave the way for our younger ones. I take late night calls and go out to meet people, whether it's at the river bottoms or wherever they are, just being in service and letting them know that if they need help, we're here. I'm definitely God's vessel, and this work is just a part of my life, this is who I am.
