Peter Sanders, RN
Pete Sanders, RN, is a registered nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he practices in the Inpatient Observation Unit (IOU), a fast-paced 72-hour holding unit closely connected to the emergency department. As a first-year nurse, he manages a diverse patient population with acuity levels ranging from medical-surgical to intensive care, often caring for up to six patients during overnight shifts. His role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and collaboration, which he demonstrates through active participation in interdisciplinary team huddles that prioritize patient safety, continuity of care, and accountability.
Mr. Sanders’ educational path reflects both academic excellence and determination. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Furman University, where he was a four-year varsity football letterman on full athletic scholarship, before later pursuing a career in nursing. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Georgia State University in 2024 with a 3.78 GPA. His clinical preparation is supported by certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and the NIH Stroke Scale, and he remains actively engaged in professional organizations that promote excellence in nursing practice.
Before entering healthcare, Mr. Sanders built a successful career in business, sales, and leadership, experiences that continue to shape his professional approach. His transition into nursing was inspired by a personal hospitalization following a motorcycle accident, which exposed him to both the challenges and the profound impact of bedside care. This experience solidified his commitment to delivering consistent, compassionate, and high-quality patient care. Looking ahead, Mr. Sanders plans to pursue advanced education with the long-term goal of becoming an advanced practice nurse in emergency or critical care. Outside of work, he maintains an active lifestyle and draws on the discipline, teamwork, and resilience developed through athletics—qualities that define his nursing practice and future aspirations.
