Dr. Michael Steven Gebetsberger, M.D., FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine physician with extensive experience in hospital medicine and outpatient internal medicine practice. He has served in a variety of clinical roles across Oklahoma, providing comprehensive care for adult patients with both acute and chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Gebetsberger currently works as a Hospitalist at McAlester Regional Medical Center in McAlester, Oklahoma, where he has been practicing since 2019. Prior to this role, he held positions as a General Internist with Utica Park Clinic in Tulsa and as an Intensive Care Hospitalist at Saint John Hospital, reflecting his broad expertise in both inpatient and critical care settings.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, followed by his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. He also completed additional training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gebetsberger has been actively involved in academic medicine and leadership roles. He served as Instructor of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wichita. He has also held multiple committee leadership positions, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee Chair and roles within hospital quality improvement and medical oversight committees.

In addition to his clinical and academic contributions, Dr. Gebetsberger is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and has been recognized with multiple honors for excellence in teaching and academic achievement. He has also been deeply involved in community service, including long-term volunteer work with the Neighbor-for-Neighbor Healthcare Clinic and leadership within the Alzheimer’s Association Oklahoma Chapter, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to patient care, education, and service.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the opportunity to connect with patients and help them improve their health and quality of life. Being able to guide someone through a challenging diagnosis or support them in managing a chronic condition is incredibly rewarding. I find it fulfilling to witness the positive impact that attentive, personalized care can have on a patient’s well-being.
