Mark A. Awanyai Jr., PMHNP-BC, is the visionary founder of GRIT Heals, an inclusive movement dedicated to transforming mental health care through empathy, cultural awareness, and clinical excellence.
A graduate of Regis College, Mark’s diverse experience spans behavioral health, correctional psychiatry, addiction medicine, and geriatric neuropsychiatry. His work integrates psychopharmacology, trauma recovery, and personal empowerment to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

GRIT Heals stands for Growth, Resilience, Insight, and Transformation, and its mission is to provide accessible, trauma-informed, and stigma-free care for all—meeting people where they are, regardless of faith or worldview.

Outside of clinical practice, Mark co-hosts The A.M.E.N. Brothers Show and authors the GRIT Newsletter, where he writes about resilience, relationships, and emotional wellness. His articles—“Faith in the Aftermath of Trauma: How Spirituality Can Heal and When” and “Edge of Hope: How Digital Conversations Are Rewriting What We Know About Trauma”—bridge psychology, spirituality, and social connection, making mental health conversations approachable for everyone.
