Dr. Malgorzata Zielonka, PharmD, is a highly experienced clinical pharmacist and pharmacy leader with two decades of experience in inpatient and rehabilitation hospital pharmacy services. She currently serves as the Director Manager of Pharmacy at a rehabilitation hospital in Cincinnati, where she oversees clinical pharmacy operations, medication management systems, and interdisciplinary patient care. Her work focuses on ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based pharmaceutical care for medically complex inpatient populations.

Dr. Zielonka earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree in 2005 from Midwestern University, where she was part of the early generation of clinical pharmacy graduates who helped shape modern patient-centered pharmacy practice. Following her graduation, she expanded her expertise internationally, working as a traveling pharmacist across Europe. These experiences gave her a global perspective on pharmacy practice and deepened her understanding of evolving clinical pharmacy systems and patient care models.

In addition to her PharmD, Dr. Zielonka holds an MBA in International Business from Wright State University and has completed advanced certification coursework through Case Western Reserve University. Her academic background reflects a strong commitment to combining clinical expertise with leadership, healthcare management, and systems-based thinking. She continues to pursue ongoing education, including studies in artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, to remain at the forefront of innovation in pharmacy practice.

Throughout her career, Dr. Zielonka has remained actively engaged in professional organizations that support cardiovascular health and pharmaceutical advancement. She is a member of the American Heart Association and the American Pharmacists Association, through which she participates in continuing education, certification programs, and professional development initiatives. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing pharmacy is the ability to directly impact patient outcomes through safe and effective medication use. I find it especially rewarding to work within an interdisciplinary team, where collaboration allows us to improve care for medically complex patients. Being able to support recovery, optimize therapies, and contribute to patient safety in an inpatient setting gives deep meaning to my work.
