Linda Solis, LPN II is a seasoned Nurse Case Manager with over 44 years of experience in nursing and healthcare. Her journey began at the age of 14 as a candy striper, where she quickly distinguished herself by accumulating the most volunteer hours at her hospital. Under the mentorship of her volunteer director, Linda gained early hands-on experience in sterilizing surgical instruments, transporting surgery patients, and assisting with respiratory therapy treatments. After earning her LPN in 1980 from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, she built a diverse clinical foundation, working across orthopedics, renal dialysis, postpartum care, home health, nursing homes, and physicians’ offices. She is IV certified and trained in procedures often beyond the typical LPN scope, including phlebotomy, blood product administration, and basic suturing.

For the past 25 years, Linda has specialized in utilization review, focusing on workers’ compensation and medical-necessity determinations. Licensed in both California and Florida with multi-state privileges, she currently works remotely for TRISTAR, reviewing cases across multiple states. Her expertise spans medical management, case summaries, medication review, and insurance pre-certifications, making her a trusted resource for both healthcare providers and patients. Linda’s work is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a dedication to ensuring that every patient receives appropriate care within the framework of their insurance coverage.

Linda is a passionate patient advocate and educator. She prioritizes clear communication, taking the time to explain complex medical and insurance information so that patients understand their coverage, treatment options, and appeal processes. Her philosophy centers on empowering patients with knowledge, supporting healthcare teams through collaborative case management, and fostering positive outcomes for both patients and providers. Even after more than four decades in the field, Linda’s commitment to compassion, excellence, and lifelong learning continues to define her professional journey.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I like being a patient advocate to help people out so they understand insurance and things like that, and procedures. A lot of the medical staff uses words that half these people have no idea or understand. Despite the fact that I do utilization review and we don't really talk to patients that much, I do get calls, and I explain things to them because nobody else does. I got a lot of patients that call me and they want to talk to me because they know I explain things. I explain to them the whole process so it makes them feel better knowing things can be appealed and whatever, because they're like, what do I do? So I tell them. That's what I like to do.
