Kristina Kenger, RN, CCM
Kristina Kenger, RN, CCM, is a Nurse Consultant and Case Management leader based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, specializing in complex care coordination, rehabilitation, and catastrophic injury management. With over 12 years of nursing experience, she has built her career supporting patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other life-altering conditions. She is deeply committed to improving patient outcomes through coordinated, patient-centered care across the continuum.
She began her nursing career in a short-term rehabilitation facility, where she developed a strong clinical foundation and later advanced into the role of Director of Nursing. These early experiences shaped her dedication to high-quality care delivery and strengthened her commitment to patient advocacy and interdisciplinary collaboration in rehabilitation settings.
After relocating to Michigan, Kristina transitioned into case management, a move that expanded her clinical leadership and introduced her to healthcare operations and business development. She later served as Chief Executive Officer of a case management company for a year and a half, where she further developed her expertise in organizational leadership, program development, and nurse-led care coordination initiatives.
In her current role as a Nurse Consultant and Clinical Liaison with Executive Partners, Kristina supports Special Tree, a neurorehabilitation organization. She conducts hospital evaluations at facilities such as the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, determines patient appropriateness for specialized TBI and spinal cord programs, and helps coordinate individualized care pathways to optimize recovery and safe discharge planning. She also consults with Restorative Physical Medicine (RPM), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in rehabilitation and physical medicine.
Kristina is actively involved with the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) at both the Detroit chapter and national level. She is scheduled to present at the CMSA national conference on non-medical social determinants of health, including housing, food insecurity, poverty, and transportation, and their impact on patient outcomes. Her passion for nursing is deeply personal, inspired by her grandfather’s battle with brain cancer following a car accident, which reinforced her commitment to compassionate advocacy and comprehensive care coordination for patients and families.
