Kristi Sanders, RN
Kristi Sanders is a highly experienced Registered Nurse with 26 years of clinical practice across a wide range of specialties. She currently works at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she has spent the past 2.5 years primarily in neurology and intermediate care (IMC). Throughout her career, Kristi has developed extensive expertise in med-surg, women’s health, mother-baby, home care, rehabilitation, pulmonary, cardiology, and post-surgical nursing, building a well-rounded foundation of bedside care across diverse patient populations.
Kristi originally joined Johns Hopkins Hospital as a travel nurse for a six-month assignment and quickly found a strong professional connection to the environment and patient population. Her dedication and performance led to a staff position, where she has continued to thrive as both a clinician and leader at the bedside. She earned her Registered Nurse degree from Essex Community College and has remained deeply committed to direct patient care, choosing to stay in bedside nursing rather than transition into management or academic roles. Over the years, she has also taken on responsibilities as a charge nurse and has precepted both new graduates and experienced nurses, helping to guide and support the next generation of nursing professionals.
Known for her resilience, self-reflection, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Kristi has earned multiple DAISY Awards and recognition through Johns Hopkins’ employee recognition programs. She is highly regarded for her ability to remain calm under pressure and for her dedication to improving patient experiences during some of their most vulnerable moments. Kristi takes pride in evaluating her own performance daily and striving for continuous improvement, driven by a deep sense of responsibility to her patients and colleagues. Her greatest fulfillment comes from providing compassionate bedside care that brings comfort, dignity, and peace to those she serves.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What brings me the most joy in nursing is seeing improvement in my patients and being able to bring peace and happiness to people who are in the worst position possible. That's what keeps me striving to always do better. I love bedside nursing and have no desire to move into management or teaching because I truly love what I'm doing at the bedside. It brings me fulfillment to be there for patients in their most vulnerable moments, and knowing that I can make a difference in their experience is what makes this career so rewarding for me.
