Kerry Jones, RN, BSN, Registered Nurse (OB/Postpartum Nurse, Charge Nurse – Former) on Americas Best In Medicine

Kerry Jones, RN, is a seasoned registered nurse with 25 years of dedicated experience in women’s health and obstetrics. She began her nursing career after earning her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Tomball Lone Star Community College in 2000 and later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through Texas Woman’s University in 2003. Throughout her career, she remained primarily at Tomball Regional Medical Center, where she developed a strong clinical foundation in postpartum and maternal care.
Over the course of her tenure in obstetrics, Kerry gained extensive experience across multiple areas of women’s health. Her clinical work included postpartum nursing, fertility care involving patients with ovarian hyperstimulation, gynecologic oncology, and trauma-related women’s health cases. She also served as a charge nurse, where she supported unit operations and mentored newer nurses, helping guide them through complex clinical situations and fostering professional development within the team.
Kerry’s passion for patient education and holistic care extended beyond the bedside. She became a certified lactation assistant through hospital-based training and worked closely with lactation consultants, often volunteering her time on days off to support new mothers. In addition, she contributed to community education by teaching Lamaze and childbirth preparation classes, helping expectant parents feel informed and confident as they prepared for delivery.
A significant part of Kerry’s career was defined by her love for postpartum nursing, where she found the greatest sense of fulfillment. She valued the variety and complexity within obstetrics, appreciating the opportunity to support women through different stages of their healthcare journeys. Her dedication and excellence were recognized multiple times, earning her Employee of the Month on three separate occasions during her career.
After retiring in 2023 to prioritize her personal well-being and family life, Kerry remains deeply connected to nursing and is seeking to return to the field in a remote triage role. She hopes to continue using her clinical expertise in a flexible capacity that allows her to stay engaged in women’s health while maintaining balance in her personal life.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing nursing is working in women’s health and obstetrics, which has always been where my heart truly lies. I developed a deep passion for postpartum care early in my career and spent the majority of my time in that area. One of my greatest joys has been lactation support—I loved it so much that I would often come in on my days off just to help new mothers. I also really valued my role as a charge nurse, where I had the opportunity to mentor and support newer nurses, sharing practical insights and “tricks of the trade” that helped them navigate real clinical situations with greater confidence. What kept me engaged throughout my career was the variety within women’s health. From fertility care and ovarian hyperstimulation cases to Lamaze and childbirth education classes, each experience offered something different and meaningful that kept my work both dynamic and fulfilling.
