Kenneth Orgias
Kenneth Orgias is a dedicated Biomedical Technician (BMET1) with TRIMEDX, where he has worked since December 2023. He is responsible for maintaining over 2,500 critical medical devices across multiple hospital departments, including IV pumps, channels, anesthesia machines, steam sterilizers, NICU equipment (including Panda beds), laboratory equipment, and EKG machines. His work involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and quality assurance testing to ensure all patient care devices are safe and fully operational. Kenneth manages vendor relationships, coordinates equipment repairs, and ensures nothing gets lost in the process. He particularly enjoys the science aspect of his work, from calibrating blood pressure machines to taking apart and repairing complex channel pumps.
Kenneth is a 10-year Army veteran who served from 1996 to 2006. In 2020, on Father's Day weekend, he was involved in a serious car accident that required spinal surgery and left him unable to walk. Despite the devastating injury and being told recovery was uncertain, Kenneth fought his way back through rehabilitation and returned to full-time work in the medical field. His journey from being bedridden to walking again and returning to his career demonstrates his resilience and determination. Just two months after his accident, he received a call from the Charlotte Hornets for a coaching interview, but had to respectfully decline due to his recovery.
Kenneth's educational background includes a degree in biology with a concentration in environmental science from Guilford College, along with a minor in psychology. He has also worked in sterile processing at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Beyond his technical expertise, Kenneth brings diverse experience including coaching semi-professional men's and women's basketball, building go-karts with his uncles from age five, and leadership roles working with teenagers through his church. He is passionate about animals and supports the ASPCA, having grown up on a farm with over 100 animals. Kenneth is committed to building a stable and meaningful career in healthcare while supporting his family, including his two sons.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I really enjoy the science part of my work. When I work on a blood pressure machine, we have calibrated equipment to check to make sure it's working properly. Once that's over, it's over - you know, oh, this works, oh, this doesn't work. But I also love the challenge of taking things apart to fix them. I had a channel today, I had to take it apart to fix it, and those things I enjoy. I used to build go-karts with my uncles when I was younger, around 5 years old, so I like taking stuff apart. I'm grateful to be working again. I'm grateful to be back in the medical field after being out for a little bit. Sky's the limit.
